We visited Eureka! The National Children’s Museum on the way from Haworth to Bradford on our UK tour earlier in the year and it has become one of our favourite places in the UK! The museum can be found in the centre of Halifax and makes the perfect stop if you are driving the length of the country!
The museum is sectioned perfectly to deliver sensory experiences for all ages. We started in ‘The Sound Garden’ one of the under 5’s only areas – which were such a lovely find and much needed when your little one isn’t quite stable on their feet!
There are so many areas to explore, climb and you can even design your own butterfly! We moved on to the ‘Sound Space’ where Isla enjoyed her time playing with aliens to test and create sounds.
Next we found the child-sized town square – complete with an M&S super market, bank and even road works to complete!
Once Isla and Daddy had done the shopping, deposited a cheque at the bank, fixed the car and the road works we discovered an interactive house with play stations in every room! The water play was to be found in the bathroom, naturally we struggled to get Isla to move onto the next room!
Upstairs there is another Under 5’s area that was desert themed and so much fun! We loved the giant crank and the coyote – unfortunately it was so dark in there my camera wouldn’t play ball!
One of the largest areas is the ‘All About Me’ section – which teaches Isla all about her body and how it works!
Every single thing is interactive and designed to inspire their little imaginations!
This giant tongue made the most brilliant slurping & licking sound effects when Isla jumped on… she thought it was hilarious!
Now that’s what Daddy’s are for – when your toddler says DANCE! you do it without question! Haha! 🙂
I can’t recommend Eureka enough! The staff were all wonderful and so helpful! It is fully accessible with lifts but also has convenient buggy parks. The best part is the price – you pay once and you can come as many times as you want throughout the year! If only we lived closer, I think we would be there every week and still discover something new every time!
